Kuskin, 221 N.J. 112 (2015), by arguing successfully in the Supreme Court that requests for civil reservation should be made in open court, in the presence of all parties, at the same time the court accepts the defendant's guilty plea.

Hailing from a blue-collar household in central New Jersey, William J. Borowinski defied the odds, embarking on a remarkable journey that would lead him to become a stalwart advocate for justice. Raised in an environment where his mother was the sole high school graduate, Mr. Borowinski initially had no plans for college or law school. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army during peacetime, intending to serve twenty years and retire. However, tragedy struck at the age of nineteen when his mother succumbed to cancer. In honor of her legacy and her passion for education and the law, Mr. Borowinski redirected his path. His quest for knowledge led him to Middlesex County College, where he earned an associate degree with Honors. Breaking ground as the first in his family to achieve an associate degree, he continued to set milestones, obtaining a B.A. from Rutgers College and a Juris Doctorate. Remarkably, on his first attempt, he passed both the New York and New Jersey Bar exams with such distinction that he was eligible to waive into the prestigious Washington DC Bar.

VERONICA R. MEDINA, ESQ.

Veronica R. Medina, Esq., is an Associate Attorney driven by a commitment to justice and advocacy. Graduating cum laude from Montclair State University with a double concentration in Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies and Paralegal Studies (minors in Environmental Justice and Family Justice), she was inspired by a professor to attend law school while working on an environmental justice project addressing lead poisoning in inner cities. This experience fueled her desire to advocate for those in need. During college, Ms. Medina interned as a family legal assistant in a sole-practitioner law firm.

Ms. Medina pursued her legal education at Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey. She became a published author from the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal in Spring of 2020. She also interned at a health law corporation and at the Bergen County Courthouse. She participated on the executive board as the Secretary for the Public Interest Law Student Association during her second year of law school. In addition to academic achievements, she served as a Lexis Student Representative and a Lexis Social Specialist, assisting fellow students with research assignments. Her dedication to pro bono work resulted in over 600 hours, contributing to various projects and initiatives, including Rutgers Law School’s Child Advocacy Clinic.
